What temperature to cover the knees

The Sunday ride this weekend was one of those hard to call ones.

Short, medium climbing, dry week.

The moors gave way to mist and a marked drop in temperature from 12C down to 5C.

The talk turned to those with exposed knees. The old "soaked through would I really be any warmer with wet longs on?" gave way to a specific revelation.

While I had a line in my head that says 13C is the absolute lowest for shorts.... it transpires that one of the Level 3 coaches in the club had made clear an apparent British Cycling have an advisory... and it rhymes so even better:

"Below 16C , cover the knees"

Science apparently.

Who knew?
