mod_pagespeed clear your cache!

Yesterday saw what we shall call an "instructive request" including ripe language in a similar theme to "will no one rid me of this turbulent priest!"... as a site that was being developed on was consistently delivering stale content despite the mod_expires directives being removed, and the browser cache cleared. This - after a few moments of scratching my head was down to the Apache2 mod_pagespeed from Google.

It doesn't have an interface, does have a config file - and at the time I was completely oblivious as to how to clear its cache.

It turns out it is quite simple. A matter of creating a file with the right name in the right place and the deed is done a moment or so later.

touch /var/cache/mod_pagespeed/cache.flush

Good to know, wise to write down, fabulous to share.
