That Warm Secure Feeling

When your ASV (Authorised Security Vendor – used to sign you off on things being secure for compliance purposes)  is down for a huge chunk of the day – you get such a warm warm cosy sensation of trust and competence.

A 503 error can be defined as follows:

The Web server (running the Web site) is currently unable to handle the HTTP request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server. The implication is that this is a temporary condition which will be alleviated after some delay.

My exposure is just a passing one – however D/DoS stage left, everyone looks left, while stage right – the laser guided precision badness takes place – no? I guess in my head I am thinking bigger player bigger defences, bigger pool of smart people to pull from… maybe it just doesn’t work like that. Much sadness.

Thank you McAfeeSecure / Qualys – small solace for the rest of us “# Everybody hurts“.
